Presiding Member (PM) elections 2026
On 30th April, 2026 the Hon. Daniel Mbugri, Assembly Member of Kwasi Nkrumah Electoral Area was elected as Presiding Member for Bia West District Assembly, during the First Ordinary Meeting of the district assembly.
In attendance; Hon Mathew Annor, the District Chief Executive, the District Coordinating Director, Hon. Assembly Members, Nananom, Electoral Commision, Bia West, HOD’s, Invited Political Parties, Religious Leaders and the media.
The District Chief Executive also touched on developmental issues in his address; building of the 24hr Economy Model Market at Oseikojokrom, current power outages, Nkoko Nkitinkiti Program and reviewed the current progress and growth of the district.

Bia West Awards 24hr Economy Model Market at Oseikojokrom
On 15th April, 2026 the 24hr Economy Market project site was formally handed over to the contractor, Joy Joy Limited, and a SOD-cutting ceremony performed by the Hon. Mathew Annor (DCE) and Hon. Mustapha Tanko Amidu (MP) together alongside Nana Osei Kojo III, chief of Oseikojokrom.
The project is funded by the Government of Ghana through the District Assemblies Common Fund (DACF) and is expcted to be completed within a period of 36 months.
In prearation for the execution of the project, the consultant, DevPro 360 handed over all documentation to the district assembly to ensure all technical and administrative requirements are in place for implementation process.
the initiative stands as a testament to the commitment of leadership and to drive inclusive development and create lasting opportunities to serve the good people of Bia West.
2026 Independence Day Celebration at Bia West
On 6th March, 2026 the Hon. Mathew Annor, District Chief Executive together with Nananom of Kwametawiahkrom, Heads of Department and other digitaries joined the 69th Independence Day Celebration Parade at Kwametawiahkrom.
The theme: “Building Prosperity, Restoring Hope,” We celebrated the toil and sacrifices of our forebears and responsiblity we share to work together in building a prosperous district and restoring hope for the nation.

Inauguration of 6 Area Councils
In the month of February, Mr. Clifford Baba Atanga, the District Coordinating Director as chairman on behalf of the DCE, inaugurated the following area councils. Namely; Essam-Debiso, Adjofua, Elluokrom, Akaatiso, Oseikojokrom and Yawmatwa. Each Area Council nominated a chairman and executive committee members. The chairman emphasize that the Area Council should be involved in Revenue Mobilisation and Property Rate Collection.
