BIA WEST DISTRICT STAKEHOLDERS CONSULTATIVE MEETING ON COMPOSITE BUDGET AND FEE FIXING
October 7, 2026
The Bia West District Assembly organised a Town Hall Meeting/Stakeholders Consultative Meeting on 7th October 2026 to engage stakeholders on the preparation of the 2027 Composite Budget and Fee Fixing Resolution.
The meeting brought together community leaders, traditional authorities, representatives of interest groups, Hon. Assembly Members and other stakeholders to discuss the District’s development priorities and proposed revenue measures for the 2027 financial year.
Participants were given the opportunity to share their views, concerns and recommendations to help ensure that the 2027 Composite Budget reflects the needs and priorities of the people of Bia West.
The engagement forms part of the Assembly’s commitment to participatory governance, transparency and accountability in the local development planning and budgeting process.
BIA WEST COMMEMORATE WORLD CLEANUP DAY WITH NATIONAL SANITATION DAY
October 3, 2026
The Hon. Mathew Annor together with Bia West District Assembly joined communities across the country to commemorate World Cleanup Day alongside the National Sanitation Day Exercise on Saturday, 3rd October 2026, with cleanup activities held in Abosi and Henenkwanta.
The exercise was organised under the national theme, “Local Actions Yielding National Impact,” and the global theme, “From Clean Plates to Clean Cities.”
Residents, community leaders and stakeholders participated in the cleanup exercise, which focused on the removal of refuse, clearing of public spaces and improving the overall sanitary conditions of the two communities.
The exercise also served as an opportunity to encourage residents to adopt responsible waste management practices, including proper disposal of refuse and regular cleaning of their surroundings.
The Bia West District Assembly reaffirmed its commitment to promoting sustainable environmental sanitation and encouraged residents to make cleanliness a shared responsibility. The Assembly believes that small actions at the community level can create a cleaner, healthier and more sustainable District.
MY FIRST DAY AT SCHOOL PROGRAMME IN BIA WEST
September 8, 2026
The Bia West District Education Directorate organised the “My First Day at School” programme to officially welcome learners as they commenced the new academic year. The programme brought together education stakeholders, teachers, parents and learners to encourage a positive start to the academic journey.
The event was attended by the Hon. Mathew Annor, District Chief Executive (DCE), who expressed the Assembly’s commitment to supporting education and improving the welfare of learners across the District.
The activity was also supported by the Hon. Mustapha A. Tanko, Member of Parliament for Bia West, together with the Hon. DCE, with a financial contribution of GHS 20,000 to support the day’s activity and commencement of the academic year.
The initiative demonstrated the commitment of the District Assembly and other stakeholders to promoting quality education and creating a supportive learning environment for children in Bia West District.
MBA TECHNICAL TRAINING FOR BIZBOX BENEFICIARIES
September, 2026
The Bia West District hosted an MSME Business Acceleration Technical Training for beneficiaries under the BizBox Programme from 1st to 4th September 2026.
The training was aimed at equipping participants with practical knowledge and skills to improve their businesses, strengthen their entrepreneurial capabilities and enhance their ability to manage and grow sustainable enterprises.
The programme provided beneficiaries with an opportunity to acquire relevant technical and business development skills, while also promoting entrepreneurship, employment creation and sustainable livelihoods among young people in the District.
The training forms part of efforts to support Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) and empower BizBox beneficiaries to contribute meaningfully to the local economy of Bia West District.
HON. REGIONAL MINISTER VISITS BIA WEST
September 1, 2026
On 1st September, 2026 Hon. Wilbert K. Brentum Regional Minister, Mrs. Jemima Lomotey Regional Chief Director and entourage from Western North Regional Coordinating Council (WNRCC), visited the Hon. Mathew Annor District Chief Executive and the Bia West District Assembly to monitor and inspect projects in the District.
After brief presentation by the District Works Engineer, the Hon. Regional Minister and his entourage together with Management of the Bia West District Assembly led by Hon. DCE visited communities such as Kramokrom, Amanhyia, New Papaase, Mfantseman, Ntosue, Asuontaa, Debiso Newtown, Debiso, Essam, Oseikojokrom and Kojoaba to inspect the progress of the projects.
The Hon. Regional Minister expressed his excitement and urged the Assembly to demonstrate good strength towards assessment and work as a team to be deliver good service to the residents
BIA WEST DISTRICT ASSEMBLY JOINS CôTE D'IVOIRE INDEPENDENCE DAY CELEBRATION
August 7, 2026
The Bia West District Assembly, led by the Hon. District Chief Executive (DCE), joined the Sous-Prefet of Niable District, Hon. Mrs. Assi Kaudjis Tatiana Flora, and the people of Niable District in celebrating the Independence Day of Côte d’Ivoire on 7th August 2026.
The celebration provided an opportunity for the Bia West District Assembly to strengthen the existing cross-border relationship, cooperation and friendship between the Bia West District of Ghana and Niable District of Côte d’Ivoire.
The participation also demonstrated the commitment of both districts to promoting collaboration and fostering stronger ties for the mutual benefit of communities along the Ghana–Côte d’Ivoire border.
VISIT OF THE SOUS-PREFET OF NIABLE DISTRICT, CôTE D'IVOIRE
July 15, 2026
The Bia West District Assembly on 15th July 2026 received a delegation from Niable District, Côte d’Ivoire, led by the Sous-Prefet, Hon. Mrs. Assi Kaudjis Tatiana Flora, and her entourage.
The visit formed part of preparations for the delegation’s participation in the Côte d’Ivoire Independence Day celebration scheduled for 7th August 2026. The meeting provided an opportunity for both sides to engage, strengthen cross-border relations, and discuss arrangements surrounding the upcoming celebration.
The Bia West District Assembly welcomed the delegation and expressed its commitment to continued cooperation and cordial relations with neighbouring communities and authorities in Côte d’Ivoire.
NATIONAL SANITATION DAY EXERCISE AT AMOAKROM AND YELLOW CAMP
July 11, 2026
The Bia West District Assembly, led by the Hon. District Chief Executive (DCE), in collaboration with the Environmental Health Unit, undertook a National Sanitation Day Exercise on 11th July 2026 at Amoakrom and Yellow Camp.
The exercise brought together Assembly staff, Environmental Health personnel, community members and other stakeholders to undertake communal cleaning activities, including the clearing of refuse and overgrown areas and the improvement of general environmental conditions.
The exercise formed part of efforts by the District Assembly to promote clean and healthy communities, proper waste management and environmental sanitation within the Bia West District. The Hon. DCE encouraged residents to take ownership of sanitation activities and maintain the cleanliness of their communities beyond the exercise.
The Assembly reaffirmed its commitment to working closely with communities and stakeholders to sustain improved sanitation and promote a healthier environment across the District.
LAUNCHING OF FREE PRIMARY HEALTHCARE
July 6, 2026
The Bia West District Health Directorate launched the Free Primary Healthcare Programme on 6th July 2026 at Pentecost Central, Debiso, under the theme: “FREE PRIMARY HEALTHCARE: REMOVING THE FINANCIAL BARRIER TOWARDS ACHIEVING UNIVERSAL HEALTH COVERAGE.”
The programme brought together health stakeholders, community members and local leaders to raise awareness of the initiative and its role in improving access to essential primary healthcare services.
The launch was attended by the Hon. Member of Parliament (MP) for Bia West and the Hon. District Chief Executive (DCE), who joined the Health Directorate and other stakeholders in supporting efforts to improve healthcare access within the District.
The initiative highlights the commitment of stakeholders to reducing financial barriers to healthcare and promoting accessible and equitable primary healthcare services for residents of Bia West District.
NATIONAL DAY OF PRAYER AND THANKSGIVING HELD AT DEBISO
July 1, 2026
On 1st July 2026, The Bia West District Assembly, under the leadership of the District Chief Executive (DCE), Hon. Mathew Annor, organised a National Day of Prayer and Thanksgiving at Pentecost Central, Debiso.
The event brought together community members, religious leaders, traditional leaders, Assembly officials, and other stakeholders to offer prayers and thanksgiving for the nation, the District, and its people.
The programme provided an opportunity for participants to express gratitude, seek divine guidance, and pray for peace, unity, development, and the continued well-being of the people of Bia West District and Ghana as a whole.
The District Assembly appreciates all religious leaders, stakeholders, and members of the public who participated in the programme and contributed to its success.
TREE PLANTING EXERCISE IN BIA WEST DISTRICT
June 20, 2026
On 20th June, 2026 the Hon. Mathew Annor, DCE and the Bia West District Assembly undertook a tree planting exercise as part of efforts to promote environmental conservation, forest restoration and sustainable natural resource management within the District.
As part of the exercise, the District received 100 Odum seedlings, which were planted at the Bia Lamplighter College of Education and Bia Senior High School to support the restoration of the local environment and contribute to the preservation of Ghana’s forest resources.
The exercise brought together relevant stakeholders and community members, with emphasis on the importance of protecting and nurturing the planted seedlings to ensure their survival and long-term benefits to the District.
TOWN HALL MEETING HELD WITH STAKEHOLDERS OF BIA WEST DISTRICT
June 11, 2026
On 11th June 2026, the Bia West District Assembly, led by the District Chief Executive (DCE), Hon. Mathew Annor, held a Town Hall Meeting with key stakeholders within the District.
The meeting brought together stakeholders, including traditional leaders and religious leaders, to engage with the Assembly on issues affecting their respective communities. The stakeholders had the opportunity to raise concerns, make suggestions, and seek clarification on matters relating to the development and well-being of the District.
The DCE and officials of the Assembly listened to the concerns raised and engaged the stakeholders on the issues presented. The meeting provided an important platform for dialogue, collaboration, and strengthened engagement between the Assembly and the people it serves.
The Town Hall Meeting forms part of the Assembly’s commitment to citizen engagement, participatory governance, accountability, and inclusive local development within the Bia West District.
DISBURSEMENT OF PWDAs FUNDS
June 4, 2026
4th June, 2026 The Hon. Mathew Annor -DCE, together with the Department of Social Welfare and Community Development (SWCD) disbursed some items and financial support to Persons Who are Differently Able (PWDAs) through the Disability Fund in the Bia West District.
The Disability Fund is a dedicated Government of Ghana fund established under the Persons with Disability Act, 2006 (Act 715) and managed in collaboration with the SWCD. The Fund is designed to provide financial support and relief items to PWDAs across all districts of Ghana to improve their quality of life, enhance their social inclusion and support their participation in economic activities.
Based on the DACF guidelines for PWDs, the Bia West District PWD Fund Management Committee supported fifty-six (56) PWDAs in these areas:
- Financial Support (income generating activities) for 34 PWDAs – (18 Male, 16 Female)
- Education for 1 male
- Health/ Assistive Devices for 4 PWDAs (2 Male, 2 female)
- Working Tools and Equipment such as freezers, sewing machines, fufu pounding machine for 15 PWDAs (5 Male, 10 Female)
- Construction of 2 Metal Containers for 2 Females PWDAs.
This initiative forms part of Assembly’s commitment to empowering PWDAs, improving their livelihoods and supporting their personal development.
As a District, we remain dedicated to promoting inclusiveness, care, and equal opportunities for all. Hon. Mathew Annor encouraged beneficiaries to make good use of the support provided to better their lives and businesses.
HON. DCE VISIT TO B.E.C.E CENTRES
May 4, 2026
On 4th May, 2026 Hon. Mathew Annor- DCE, undertook a visitation to selected Centers where candidates were preparing for or participating in the Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE).
The purpose of the visit was to observe the general arrangements at the examination centers, interact with the candidates and officials, and assess the conditions under which the candidates were undertaking the examination.
The visitation was undertaken to monitor the general organization and conduct of the BECE at the Centre, interact with candidates and encourage them to remain focused and confident, engage examination officials and supervisors on the smooth running of the examination, identify any challenges affecting candidates and the administration of the examination and demonstrate support and interest in the educational development of young people within the community.
During the visit, Hon. Mathew Annor toured the examination Centre and observed the arrangements put in place for the candidates and examination officials. He interacted with the candidates and encouraged them to take their examinations seriously, remain disciplined and give their best in every paper. He also emphasized the importance of preparation, concentration and confidence in achieving good results.
Hon. Mathew Annor further interacted with the officials responsible for the Centre to ascertain how the examination was progressing and whether there were any challenges requiring attention.
The visitation provided an opportunity to observe the general conditions at the examination Centre and to appreciate the efforts of the officials responsible for ensuring that the examination was conducted in an orderly manner.
The interaction with candidates also provided an opportunity to understand their concerns and encourage them to remain calm and focused throughout the examination period. Where necessary, issues raised during the visit were noted for further attention and follow-up.
Hon. Mathew Annor encouraged the candidates to remain focused throughout the examination period and follow all examination rules and instructions. Also avoid any form of examination malpractice have confidence in their preparation and abilities, continue to work hard and make their parents, teachers and communities proud.
The BECE Centre visitation by Hon. Mathew Annor was an important engagement aimed at showing support for candidates and appreciating the efforts of examination officials. The visit also reinforced the importance of education and the need for continuous support for young people as they pursue their academic goals. Hon. Mathew Annor expressed his encouragement to the candidates and wished them success in their examinations.
PRESIDING MEMBER (PM) ELECTIONS 2026

On 30th April, 2026 the Hon. Daniel Mbugri, Assembly Member of Kwasi Nkrumah Electoral Area was elected as Presiding Member for Bia West District Assembly, during the First Ordinary Meeting of the district assembly.
In attendance; Hon Mathew Annor, the District Chief Executive, the District Coordinating Director, Hon. Assembly Members, Nananom, Electoral Commision, Bia West, HOD’s, Invited Political Parties, Religious Leaders and the media.
The District Chief Executive also touched on developmental issues in his address; building of the 24hr Economy Model Market at Oseikojokrom, current power outages, Nkoko Nkitinkiti Program and reviewed the current progress and growth of the district.

BIA WEST AWARDS CONTRACT 24HR ECONOMY MODEL MARKET
April 15, 2026
On 15th April, 2026 the 24hr Economy Market project site was formally handed over to the contractor, Joy Joy Limited, and a SOD-cutting ceremony performed by the Hon. Mathew Annor (DCE) and Hon. Mustapha Tanko Amidu (MP) together alongside Nana Osei Kojo III, chief of Oseikojokrom.
The project is funded by the Government of Ghana through the District Assemblies Common Fund (DACF) and is expcted to be completed within a period of 36 months.
In prearation for the execution of the project, the consultant, DevPro 360 handed over all documentation to the district assembly to ensure all technical and administrative requirements are in place for implementation process.
the initiative stands as a testament to the commitment of leadership and to drive inclusive development and create lasting opportunities to serve the good people of Bia West.
NKOKO NKITINKITI PROGRAMME IN BIA WEST DISTRICT
March, 2026
The Bia West District Assembly benefited from the Nkoko Nkitinkiti Programme in March 2026, receiving 10,000 day-old chicks for distribution to selected beneficiaries within the District.
The distribution and implementation of the programme were supervised by the District Agriculture Department to ensure that the chicks were properly received and distributed to the intended beneficiaries.
The initiative forms part of efforts to support local poultry production, improve livelihoods, create employment opportunities and enhance household income among beneficiaries in the District. The Agriculture Department also provided the necessary technical guidance to support beneficiaries in the management and rearing of the bird
2026 INDEPENDENCE DAY CELEBRATION AT BIA WEST

On 6th March, 2026 the Hon. Mathew Annor, District Chief Executive together with Nananom of Kwametawiahkrom, Heads of Department and other digitaries joined the 69th Independence Day Celebration Parade at Kwametawiahkrom.
The theme: “Building Prosperity, Restoring Hope,” We celebrated the toil and sacrifices of our forebears and responsiblity we share to work together in building a prosperous district and restoring hope for the nation.

INAUGURATION OF 6 AREA COUNCILS
In the month of February, Mr. Clifford Baba Atanga, the District Coordinating Director as chairman on behalf of the DCE, inaugurated the following area councils. Namely; Essam-Debiso, Adjofua, Elluokrom, Akaatiso, Oseikojokrom and Yawmatwa. Each Area Council nominated a chairman and executive committee members. The chairman emphasize that the Area Council should be involved in Revenue Mobilisation and Property Rate Collection.
